Membership

Studio Potter Archive is a paid subscription site. The benefit of membership allows access to SPA’s ever changing visual archive, exhibits, articles, and community forum.
 

To join the community, select a membership period by clicking “Add to Cart”. By clicking “Go to checkout” in the pop-up window, you will advance to a simple registration form. Fill out the form, then chose the method of payment; Manual Payment or PayPal, and click “Subscribe” at the bottom of the page.
 
If you've chosen PayPal, a PayPal check out page will then appear. Remember, if you’re not a member of PayPal, you can still remit payment through PayPal’s secure server without having to become a PayPal member. (PayPal does not, nor does SPA, keep your credit card information on file. Since PayPal is a third-party provider, SPA will never have access to your financial information.) Once payment has been successfully processed, you’ll get a conformation email from SPA and PayPal. You may now sign into Studio Potter Archive. Enjoy!
 
If you have chosen to pay via snail-mail, then simply mail the appropriate membership dues to the address indicated. Your membership will be activated upon receipt of payment.

Archives

The Studio Potter Archive collection is a work in progress. We’re always searching for new work that fulfills the criteria specific to our vision. SPA is an archive, and while no work in the collection is for sale, examples are available for loan to accredited institutions.
 

The archive is easy to use. Arranged alphabetically, simply choose a letter by clicking on its image or use our convenient dropdown menu. You will see the dropdown menu on the A to Z page and on each corresponding letter page. Discovery for us at Studio Potter Archive is always a thrill, so we have added an unknown potters page, designated by a “?” for work yet to be attributed to its rightful creator.
 
The archive documents information specific to the category of interest; biographical information, exhibits, articles, images, and interviews, and when applicable, will support a potter’s profile. And yes, please contribute by adding a comment to each respective posting.

Exhibits

Studio Potter Archive takes great interest in preparing curatorial events that highlight many facets within the field of studio pottery. Exhibits will include works contained within the SPA collection and examples held in other collections; public and private. To visit an exhibition, simply click the “See the Exhibit” link.

Search

A unique feature of Studio Potter Archive is its extensive search capability. Its flexibility allows you to search the site by selecting a multitude of categories and classifications within each category. In addition to being able to view pieces by potter ("Archives") or by Exhibit ("Exhibits"), this feature allows you to search by characteristic, e.g., "Movement", "Period", or "Style". For each search field selected, a dropdown menu gives you all available options.
 

Additional search options include: A general freeform search (key word or name), search by month, or search by subject (category).

Forums

Member’s voices fortify SPA’s goal to offer a forum where each idea and opinion matters. At SPA, we’ve opened a door, through which you may join any roundtable discussion. This is our interactive classroom where each member may find themselves in the role of student, or teacher. This forum is open to all members with an active subscription.

Working Potters

Studio Potter Archive is dedicated to providing our members with a regional directory for the working potter. The directory includes potters from all 50 states and Puerto Rico, and Canada’s provinces. Click on the “Select a state/province” bar to display the location drop down menu.
 
If you are a working potter and wish to be listed in the profile directory, please contact us at workingpotters@StudioPotterArchive.com. This is a complimentary service, so yes, it's free! Please supply us with your Name, Studio Name, Full Address, Phone, E-mail, Web URL address, Studio Information, Artist Statement, your Biography/Resume, and 3 images of your work. Please note, to keep the 'flow' of our site, we can only accept images of your work which are professionally photographed. By this, we ask that your work be displayed on a clean background.
 
Membership allows each potter to post comments to their directory profile listing. Whether it be specific information about your work, announcements; studio sales, firing dates, or whatever, your voice is present-- think of it as your personal announcement board within the Studio Potter Archive community.

Industry Directory

Studio Potter Archive is also dedicated to providing our members with a regional directory for Organizations, Higher Education Institutions, and Suppliers. The Industry directory includes participants from all 50 states and Puerto Rico, and Canada’s provinces. Click on the “Select a state/province” bar to display the location drop down menu to search your area.

 
While community based organizations (Arts Councils, Craft Guilds, Associations, etc.) are listed in the SPA directory as a complimentary service, Higher Education and Suppliers do require membership. Membership allows 24/7; 365 days-of-the-year advertising. More importantly, advertising becomes as 'fresh' as the frequency of posts you make to your account. The Industry Directory is the only area of Studio Potter Archive that is visible to non-members. Fixed-cost advertising that's always changing! Now that's a deal.
